Tugay Signs On For One More Season

Tugay has signed a new one year deal at Ewood Park which will include a new coaching role as well. He turns 38 in the summer but is still one of the finest passers of this generation and a true Rovers great.

The 37-year-old midfielder has been a massive success at Blackburn since his £1.2 million move (what a bargain!) from Rangers back in the summer of 2001, yet his existing deal was set to expire this summer as it has the last few summers.

However, Rovers have handed Tugay a new one-year contract to remain at 'home' and he will also take on a coaching roles at the club which could further extend his stay beyond next summer which is news to delight the rovers faithful.

Keep the good news coming guys.

Kind of suprised there hasnt been an article about it already but thought I'd just pop one on there when I was free. GREAT NEWS.

Beat me to it Mikey. Yes great news, just read the article on the LET site, very happy!!!!

Brilliant news. 2 more years as a coach and we might even see a Turkish themed testimonial at Ewood! I'll get the Falafels.
Blacheburne
...actually, what on earth else is big in Turkey apart from Falafels, Turkish Delight and Fighting?
Blacheburne
I think this is great news and to add the coaching aspect is genius, the young midfielders at Rovers should now learn all they can from Tugay, I suppose this also includes the likes of Vogel, Dunn etc, cos u can always keep learning
Clint
He could teach most people to be fair...
MikeyGamst
I read somewhere that the plan was to promote him through the ranks of coaching. However, I think it will be difficult to keep him after his playing days are over, as he has expressed a desire to return back to Turkey. However, if I were a betting man, I'd put a cheeky couple of quid on Tug's becoming manager of Blackburn within the next 5 years
Decimus Poole
Great player but at 37 can he cope with another season? Balckburn need another midfielder why dont they try and get Sidwell or Darren Fletcher
redandwhitestripemad
Because neither of those are in the same League as Tugay my good man. He will be used sparingly but Dunn, Vogel, Reid, Axe and emo are capable centre mids. One more attacking minded midfielder and I reckon we;re good to go.
MikeyGamst
Agreed. A young creative midfielder and an attacking RB and i think we will be fine

one more season - it'll be time for his pension!
