'If It's Football, It's Vital'

So its ok for Silvestre???

It is interesting to read a few articles in todays media. Manchester United fullback, Mikael Silvestre has ruled himself out of France's European Championships campaign.

Silvestre is quoted to have said, ' I don't mind having a rest to be honest. My aim is to focus on United for next season' (MET)

Ah where are the Bentley baggers now, and to think Bentley gave the Under 21s a skip, ah well, guess we can just move on and cop it

Big club syndrome...ie all symptoms of controversy are quickly ushered away!!!
roversman
Very much the big club syndrome. Just like when that ref missed a penalty in the Rovers - Utd game...where is he now? refering in league 2 :-) He'll never forget to award them a penalty again ;-) And i must admit I was inspired by Rafa's "The best of Drogba diving" tape. Why dont we make a tape for the FA where we show ALL the very questinable yellow card that we have received this year i.e Gamst against Newcastle - he got chooked - and who got the yellow card and what club was threatened with sanctions by the FA for not keeping their players "in order"...hmm. Somebody make that tape - we have gotten so many weird yellow cards this season for absolutly NOT bookable offenses. One just have to see a game between the "big four" to realise that we are getting penalised for a hell of alot more than they are. Big club syndrome - i think so ;-)
redstarman
I think Silvestre can say this confident that, if Clichy cannot get in the squad, he's got no ******** chance. Hell, I'm ruling myself out of the Switzerland squad this summer, I need the rest. The fact that I'm not Swiss doesn't even come into it.
Little Dutch
About the big club syndrome - I thought it was refreshing that the ref did not bow to the Mancs pressure (in our recent game with them) to award a pen. But then the Fa go and dump him in league one the following weekend!! It just shows the pressure the "clock-watching, sour faced *****er at Man U" puts on the FA. Long have we seen decisions favour Utd, and I guess it will continue as stated by Redstarman. I still think back to '95 and the *****-poor decisions that could have cost us the league in favour of utd. The sending off of Berg, the disallowed goal for Shearer in the return game and the crap decisions that gave the Mancs the chance to take it to the wire with the penaltimate game with Southampton. All the talk was of us bottling it, but if these decisions had gone the way they should, we would have won the league by at least 7 points!!

Silvestre actually said that he thought he had little chance to make the squad but he's not devastated as he expected nothing more. So please check the facts before starting a feast of United bashing. As for referees favouring United... you should be grateful for Styles's goodwill towards you and Chelsea, don't try to claim that you are actually the victim.
midlothian99
So midlothian99, is Silvestre pulling a Carragher? Dropping out because he doesn't think he'll get picked? Why does he need a rest? I didn't think he'd been playing that many games
FreidelNo.1
Small clubs are alwyas the 'victim' compared to the top four. Refs favour the top four because they don't want the aggro of annoying the managers eg Fergie
FreidelNo.1
I don't think there'll be much comeback from the English fans as he pulled out of the FRENCH squad, not the English squad.
Decimus Poole
True but why does he need to rest? As I said - he hasn't been playing!
FreidelNo.1
ah well, others get away with murder, not even a word bout it aye
sasman
This is really silly. If you are gonna knock Bents then you should knock Silvestre just as much. And midlothian99... the fact that you think Man U are the victims of refs is quite laughable.
