Tugay Honoured At Rovers Awards Night

Blackburn Rovers legend Tugay was presented with a special Award to mark his contribution to the club at the annual Player of the Year Awards Evening on Sunday.

37-year-old Tugay has offered Rovers SOOOO much over the past seven-years so his Award for "Outstanding Contribution to the Club" is most deserving, but is this Award being issued a sign that his time with the club is coming to an end?!?! At the moment, although the Maestro wants to sign a new one-year contract he hasn't yet been offered it, which does make you think that perhaps this Award is a parting gift??? The former Turkish International received a standing ovation when he went up to receive his Award.

Roque Santa Cruz picked up the Player of the Year Award, with David Bentley awarded the Players' Player of the Year, and Martin Olsson given the Young Player of the Year; the full list of Awards is as follows:

Peter Jackson the Jeweller Seasonal Man of the Match Award - David Bentley
Special Club Award - David Dunn
Unsung Hero - Stephen Warnock
Newcomer of the Year - Roque Santa Cruz
Goal of the Season - Tugay (for his goal v Reading)
Performance of the Season - Brad Friedel (v Man Utd)
Outstanding Contribution to the Club Award - Tugay
Young Player of the Year - Martin Olsson
Players' Player of the Year - David Bentley
Player of the Year - Roque Santa Cruz

Don't forget the Vital Blackburn Awards will begin shortly, keep your eyes peeled for more details either later this week or early next week.

The Maestro is a fitting winner of such and accolade, I'm slightly worried that this does mean the end for him as a Rovers Player though as these kinds of Awards are often handed out when it is the end of the line?!?!

im afraid to say that this does look like the end of his rovers career. i personaly think he still has something to offer but i just cant see him being offered another contract. hope he gets a testimonial because he deserves it.
Vintige
I hope he is offered some kind of coaching role, his skill should be passed on, he's a legend after all!!
Clint
Agreed Clint, it would be fantastic if joined Sparky's backroom team. Does anyone know though, if he has ever expressed a desire to remain in football when he hangs up his boots?

Well if it is the end (and I hope it's not) I would like to see him kept on in some capacity maybe as a coach etc. If we do qualify for the UEFA cup then we need to keep him for sure.

i think that will be the deciding factor, so lets get into the Uefa cup lads, at least for tugays sake!!!!!

He always seems to be enjoying his football whenever I have seen him on the box. He has been a good servant.
