Hughes: Derbs Still Has A BIG Rovers Future

Blackburn Rovers manager mark Hughes has stressed that Matt Derbyshire still has a very bright and important role to play at Ewood Park despite his lack of matches recently.

After bursting onto the scene last season England Under-21 International Derbyshire has found his chances somewhat limited this season, making only four starts, with his other appearances being as a substitute. With Roque Santa Cruz and Benni McCarthy very much ahead of him, and Jason Roberts at the moment it will be tough for Derbs to get back in, but a full fit Derbs next season will be more than capable of winning this battle!

I think this season will actually benefit him as it shows him you dont get everything your own way. He has a VERY bright future and shouldnt be scared of ruffling the big boys feathers... come on Matty.

Matty knows that he gets a look in every now and then. I think he's a great prospect and the future of our club.
