United The Turning Point For Vogel

United The Turning Point For Vogel

Blackburn Rovers midfielder Johann Vogel comfortably had his best match for Rovers so far against Manchester United last Saturday evening, now he says the best is yet to come.

Vogel has only played three matches for Rovers, but against Tottenham Hotspur and Liverpool he didn't really make that much of an impression, but he did shine against Man United last Saturday. After failing to play a competitive match for 10-months prior to his first Rovers start against Tottenham you could understand why the Switzerland International might be a little rusty, but the change that was seen in his fitness in just a week between the Liverpool and Manure matches was visibly noticeable and he will get better and better with time.

Vogel told the Official Blackburn Rovers Website: "I played against Tottenham, Liverpool and now Manchester United - three very difficult games and after 10 months without playing.

"But I think I've made a step forward for the future and that is good.

"Physically I can be better and with the ball also, but against United I think it was a good performance like all of the team and that is positive for the future
."

The 30-year-old is a world-class performer and you don't lose that over night, the more he plays the better he will become and next season (with a full Pre-Season under his belt) we will see the player somewhere to that that AC Milan had, and a player than Manure tried to sign a few times. Yet ANOTHER masterstroke by Mark Hughes with his signing.

We started to see signs why HDM does like Vogel so much lol! (Someone had said that they could see I rated him with a comment in the forum.) Next season we will see the best of Vogel, and hopefully between now and the end of the season we will see more glimpses of his class. Sparky pulls some rabbits out of the hat doesn't he, his FREE signing looks like being one of the VERY best once again!!!

I'm a Swiss guy who loves English football and follows all the Swiss players in the league (there aren't that many). I can tell you straight up that Vogel is the best player to ever come out of Switzerland. He is not a flashy player but always does the dirty work and delivers solid performances. He is not an international player anymore because he fell out with the Swiss coach so you won't see him at EURO 2008. He was simply the best captain we ever had. He led us to the EURO 2004 and WC in 2006 and is hugely respected back home. He fell off the radar in Spain but before that was on the radar screen of a lot of top teams. You guys definitely got a steal with Vogel.

Vogel was the glue of the Swiss team and since he left they have never been the same. His falling out with the coach was never really detailed in the papers but recent reports surfaced that Vogel was doing all the work including seletcing the team etc. After the successful run of the Swiss team in the WC, they lost a couple of games and the coach was under pressure so he got rid of Vogel (I guess because Vogel was openly questionning his methods). Some reports said that the reason he got rid of him was because Vogel was going to go to the press and say what a crap coach he was. Since Vogel left, the Swiss team has really bottomed out and the coach is really on the hot seat. Vogel has always been really talented since he was about 15 and he has quite a strong personality so you have to be able to deal with him as a coach, but he always gives 100% on the field.

Selecting the team, future manager.. I like him, just one of those players who looks good, works hard, think he is a bargain.
