Nelsen: We'll Give It A Go And Keep Battling Hard

Blackburn Rovers skipper Ryan Nelsen has admitted that qualifying for the UEFA Cup next season even via the Intertoto Cup will be VERY difficult, but Rovers WILL keep fighting.

Had Rovers been able to hold onto the 1-0 lead against Manchester United last Saturday evening it would've not only given Rovers the three points but would've also been a HUGE scalp and major boost to the European chances. As it was Manure equalised at the death and the point isn't really enough at this stage of the season but God insists that Rovers WILL keep fighting.

Nelsen told the Lancashire Telegraph: "The next three games are so important but at least it means the season won't die out.

"We've basically got to get three wins and it's just another goal to go for.

"In the end, even three wins might not be enough, but we'll give it a go and keep battling hard
."

To have ANY chance at all Rovers MUST beat Portsmouth on Sunday, not even a point will be enough and any slim chances will become NONE!!!

Our chances aren't good are they but if we are going to throw in the towel already it isn't even worth playing the last three matches this season is it!!! All we can do is take each match as it comes, so long as we keep winning we MIGHT still make it, as unlikely as it might seem.

He didn't say they will throw in the towel. To the contrary, I believe. He said we MUST win our last three matches. I can see us getting something at Pompey (with them having one, if not both, eyes on the FA cup), Birmingham and Derby, in theory, should be formalities, so I can see us getting 9 points. I have not looked at Villa's or City's run in, but we do need them to slip up. It can be done. I wouldn't put my mortgage on it, but it's a possibility. (Uncharacteristically optimistic there...I do apologise...)

We're not out of it yet guys. If we can channel the spirit shown in the United game the last 3 games should reap maximum benefits.

Win the next three matches and yeah we have a chance, drop ANYTHING and we'll not have a chance!!!

I was just looking at the table. If Villa finish 5th, they will knock Everton out of the UEFA place. This is not in the realms of fantasy, as Villa play Everton this weekend, and if Villa win, they go on equal points. I'm not sure if Everton have entered the Inter-toto, but I would suggest they haven't. Therefore IF Villa finish 5th, they will not take their place in the Inter-toto. Portsmouth SHOULD win the FA cup, and therefore their place in the Inter-toto cup will be given up. IF Everton have not applied, it would mean that the Inter-toto place will be between us and City. However, on the flip side, if Portsmouth finish 5th, Cardiff will get a UEFA cup place, and my proposal is all to cock...!

Everton have applied for intertoto. We really need to put the work in, in these last few games, the players should not be just hoping to finish the season there is still a lot to play for. We need to win our last three gmes and hope that other teams do us favours against Pompey and City.
Big Man up Front
