Roberts Rues Missed Opportunity

Blackburn Rovers striker Jason Roberts was disappointed that Rovers couldn't see the lead that they had against Manchester United on Saturday through to the end.

Rovers took the lead in the twenty-first minute through Roque Santa Cruz and this remained the case until two minutes from time when Man United's pressure finally told and Carlos Tevez headed home from a corner, much to the disappointment of Roberts who felt it was two points dropped. However, JR does see it as a measure of the club that Rovers were able to take the lead and hold it for so long, but the equaliser did leave the players flat.

Roberts told The Daily Star: "I haven't felt this disappointed after a football match for a long time.

"I have never beaten United in all the time I've been playing and this was a great opportunity to have done that.

"It was a quiet dressing room because we know that we have missed a great opportunity.

"Maybe the performance was a measure of how far we have come, but it is a bitter disappointment
."

Manure OFTEN keep knocking on the door and eventually force their way in (as they did at Ewood Park on Saturday evening) and this is what makes JR believe that they will walk away with the Premier League Crown.

He added: "One of the reasons why United are where they are is that they will always keep going, with quality and wave after wave of attack.

"But to give it away to a set-piece! We know we should have seen the game out.

"I think United will go and win the title now. I think they are the best team so they deserve to do it
."

It isn't often that you are unhappy to get a point off Manure is it, but having lead for so long and got so close to the end if really was two points dropped wasn't as JR says. It was a superb chance to beat them and keep our Intertoto Cup hopes alive, although not quite dead they aren't far from it now are they?

I think we'll be lucky now to get in... but we deserved at least a point on Saturday. Although I think we will all freely asmit we would of taken a point on Saturday prior to kick off wouldnt we?!?!?

Yeah we would've, I just wish that they could have equalised with a lot more than two minutes to play as it would've been easy to accept wouldn't it.
