Hughes Pleased Yet Also Disappointed

Blackburn Rovers manager Mark Hughes was pleased with the improved display shown by Rovers against Manchester United, but left a little disappointed at the nature of the equaliser.

Manchester United may have had several penalty appeals turned down at Ewood Park but it was Rovers' much improved display and resilience from that shown against Liverpool a week earlier that pleased Hughes, and proved Rovers ARE a decent team. Roque Santa Cruz gave Rovers the lead but with only two minutes left the SUPERB Brad Friedel was finally beaten by Carlos Tevez in the 1-1 draw.

Hughes told Sky Sports: "The referee has made a wrong call

"It should have been a goal kick to us, not a corner to them.

"We switched off and United get the equaliser. Over the years they have got back into games in similar circumstances.

"You could see how much it meant to them as it was a really important result.

"It was disappointing for us, but we were nice and solid. We excelled ourselves and proved we are a decent team
."

We were MUCH, MUCH better than we were against Liverpool and for that I couldn't have asked for much more (well except for three points!!!) Bradders was SUPERB as ever, it was just a shame we couldn't hold on for what would've been a crucial three points, but a point was more than I was expecting really!

Agreed. After your loss to Liverpool, Spikey needed a reaction and he has certainly got one.
