Hughes Would Want Veteran Pair

Hughes Would Want Veteran Pair

In a slow start to the day (news wise), Blackburn boss Mark Hughes has admittedhe would jump at the chance to bring Ryan Giggs and Paul Scholes to Ewood Park, if they decided to move on in the pursuit of first team football.

The veteran Manchester United duo are no longer guaranteed first-team action in every game for the Old Trafford outfit as Sir Alex Ferguson has recently purchased the quality Anderson and silky yet morbidly arrogant Nani.

In the last few days, there have been suggestions that Giggs and Scholes could head down the League in the closing stages of their career to get more chances.

And former United striker Hughes, who played alongside the duo during his second spell with the Red Devils, knows they would fit in wel at Ewood if the opportunity presented itself.

Hughes told Sky Sports: 'If players like Giggs and Scholes came on the market, then everybody would be interested, irrespective of age.

'They have the capacity to affect games at Premier League level.'

And Hughes is hoping to be afforded more transfer funds to invest in the squad in the summer to keep Rovers among the clubs challenging for regular European football.

He added: 'We have done well in the last two or three years to be able to bring the right quality at the right price and they have always been able to produce for us. I have got to keep on doing that.

'We need a little bit more investment this year than we possibly have in recent years just to make sure that we keep going in the right direction.

'We will need funds to keep adding to the squad.

'There is a group of Premier League clubs in that middle tier and in any given year you can be top of that pile or at the bottom of it and it is important we stay at the top of it.'

Bit of gossip for you there guys, don't say I don't spoil you.

would be fantastic to sign one or both if they became available! They still have a lot to offer.

I would prefer Scholes if I am honest but it is mere speculation at this point.

Probably just speculation. But could be that they want to come to their old fellow Hughes to spend their otium. Actually i would hate to ses this deal go through - i know they are both an institution in english football, but they are too old and it would send the wrong message. We need young talented players that we can develop and who wants to win. My guess is they wold come here to collect their paycheck and thats it - they already won it all, so why fight for a team who is destined for max a top 5 finish.

Thats rubbish! while age may not be on their side they are two of the most professional players in the premiershp, if they were to leave United, it would'nt be just to collect a pay-check some place else, it would be to play regular football.

im shocked anyone would think that Giggs and Schoes were the type of payers who only cared about money. Surely if you believer there are some genuine, down to earth footballers out there, then these two would be at the top of the list. anyway, i wouldnt get your hopes up, i very much doubt they will ever leave united and most probably will ebcoem ambassadors for the club liek ole gunnar solskjaer as both have stated they have little desire to head into coaching like so many of ferguson's protoge's have done (your boss included)

Hughes would be the onli attraction for them, money a big issue, but scholes always plays well against us and usually scores against us so maybe he would play well for us, would both be quality Hughes played for us in his old age and did well, so why couldnt these two. They might not have the pace anymore but will never lose there touch and skill.

I would love Scholes. Giggs I aint that fussed on as it would hold down the progress of Gamst, Peter and Treacy. and as a good point that U4L but I did have a little chuckle at the "down to earth comment" apart from Scholes and Giggs, the United squad is full of arrogant ignorant stars.

GET THEM. The experience would be a fantastic asset to BR for the younger players coming through...

This just highlights the lack of midfielders we have. THey would be great, however, we really do need to sign a young 1 who can do the job
