Rovers In High Court Battle

Rovers In High Court Battle

Blackburn Rovers a in a 4 million pound high court battle with insurers who refused to pay out for the injury which we ended Martin Dahlin's career.

The insurers claim that Swedish International was suffering from a pre-existing degenerative disc condition. As a result Blackburn were not covered because of a clause which excludes disablement attributable directly or indirectly to arthritic or other degenerative conditions in joints, bones, muscles, tendons or ligaments.

However, Blackburn argue that Dahlin's back problem was within the necessary parameters and that his career would have not have been ended if it was not for the training ground injury.
“The sole cause of the pain which had stopped Dahlin playing professional football was the prolapsed disc he suffered in that incident.” Mr Cogley told Mrs Justice Dobbs.
Blackburn paid an annual premium of more than 13,000 to insure the player who hasn't played since the injury more than eight years ago.

The trail is expected to last four days.
