'If It's Football, It's Vital'

The Immortal Brad Friedel

Blackburn Rovers goalkeeper Brad Friedel intends to keep defying the laws of time and age as he intends to carry on playing beyond the end of his current Rovers deal!!!

The 36-year-old American agreed a new contract recently that will take him through until he is 39, but he insists that if he still feels the way he does now at that time, and still has the same desire to play on then he WILL, and will play on for AS LONG as he can!!! Friedel did admit that he doesn't know what the future will hold so it is difficult to comment too much but he isn't looking to call it a day anytime soon as he DOES look after himself, which will obviously help.

Friedel told Galaxy Sport: "Sometimes you need to be a little bit lucky but getting ready for games is just about training.

"In it I do a lot of stretching exercises, plus I have good experience with yoga.

"I try to use the services of various physios, massages and so on. I try to be prepared the best as possible for each game, but I would not say I am different from other players.

"We are professionals and it is our job. I have signed a new two-year contract and it will expire when I am 39. If I am feeling this well then, I would be glad to carry on as I love football very much and want to play as long as possible
."

If Bradders feels up to carrying on beyond his current deal and is still performing as he is (as I expect he WILL!) then I'd be delighted for him to stay as long as he wants!!!

Probably the most underated player that the premier league has ever seen. His consistency is second to none ad that is why he is loved by all of us, just can't see Blackburn in six years without him between the sticks it just wouldn't feel right
Big Man up Front
Absolutely BMUF... when a list of the best goalkeepers in Prmeiership history is released you never see him anywhere near it... But apart from Schmeichel and Seaman there hasnt been a more consistent and better goalkeeper.
