Hughes: We Are Still In The Mix

Despite another draw on Saturday Blackburn Rovers manager Mark Hughes remains adamant that Rovers CAN fight for a European place.

The 1-1 draw with Tottenham Hotspur left Rovers in eighth place and with only five matches remaining. Fifth place is virtually impossible to claim so an Intertoto Cup place seems the best bet, but for this Rovers MUST finish above Aston Villa and Manchester City (as both have applied), however, Rovers are currently below Villa and Rovers now have to face a run of three straight fixtures against top six Premier League clubs.

Hughes told Sky Sports: "We are still in the mix, we have got five games to go and are still challenging for things. That's where we want to be at this stage of every season.

"We are competing and want to be trying to achieve things right to the very last Sunday of every season.

"Villa have got difficult games, so have we, but it is up to us to just concentrate on what we can do.

"We have always done reasonably well at Anfield and I am sure United target Blackburn at Ewood as a key game in their run-in. We feel they will respect us as we will them
."

With the run of matches we have coming up it looks VERY tough for us but IF we can start off with a win over Liverpool we WILL be set up nicely for the matches that follow.

It's still possible for you and a good result against Man U can only help you...... and us! ;)

More than often we get the best results against the better teams. I think this is due to our inability to create games, and therefor when we meet a good opposition, who can create the game for us, we play better because the oppositoon team doesnt dig itself down but attackes. This leaves a lot of room in the field, and therefor our passing game improves - confidence rises - and we get a result.

Yes, more often than not we do raise our game against better sides who we would not be expected to beat. A win against either Liverpool or United would see us stay in the mix, two defeats and I think we can forget about it!

Two wins and we're RIGHT at the head of the mix :)

Its still on guys. Its basically a three way fight between us Villa and City and I for one am confident we can do it. We can start by springing a shock at Anfield this weekend.

I'm back people, I think we can basically still do it we just need to get a win against Liverpool this week end and follow that up with at least a draw against Man Utd. Hopefully then all the other games will fall into line. Intertoto here we come!
Big Man up Front
