Williams: Bentley STAYS At Ewood

Blackburn Rovers chairman John Williams remains adamant that Rovers WON'T be selling David Bentley this summer.

The newspapers are linking him with a move away from Ewood Park more and more with each passing day, often twisting his comments taking them out of context (or putting them under a fine microscope making of them what THEY see fit!) but with Bentley contracted to Rovers until 2011 Williams has once again spoken about the intent to keep Bents, again reminding people that he DOES have a contract (for what they are worth!) that will see him here until 2011 at least, but Rovers want to extend this deal as a reward for his superb form.

Williams told the Lancashire Telegraph: "David Bentley is under contract to Blackburn Rovers until 2011 and in recognition of the fantastic progress he has made this season, it is common knowledge that we are looking to extend.

"There's nothing more to say
."

Unless Bents comes out and asks to leave then we shouldn't have anything to worry about as Mark Hughes has stressed OVER AND OVER that he doesn't want (or need) to sell him, and after Williams' comments (once again) should he go back on this (even though everyone does have a price) there will be PLENTY of angry Rovers supporters!!!

The links with moves away will keep coming, the newspapers will keep twisting what Bents says and keep trying to sell him, unless Bents decides that he wants to go (something he hopefully will not!!!) then why should he?!?!

If we dont get european football, i think Bents has basically stated thats where he needs to be playing and we will struggle to hold on without the incentive of UEFA cup football next term.
adrianbrfc
That has been my only concern, IF we can't offer him that I fear could lose him, and if we lost him we WOULD lose others.
Hughes Da Man
we NEED to keep him. we r going to lose him eventualy but i think it will be a mistake for him if he moves now. hes progressing well at rovers, theres no need to yet. it will defintly be a mistake if he leaves for liverpool, remember the last player who did that! that turned out well ;)
Vintige
We can only hope he stays, rovers wont sell unless we get a massive massive offer so fingers crossed!!
sasman
I think we are in a better position than we are suggesting. He hasnt stated he wants to leave, both the chairmen and manager have stated he wont be going, we are in pole position for intertoto qualification, IF the worst happens it will have to be an incredible offer for him to go.
MikeyGamst
Agreed Mikey - He will stay, I'm sure of it.

Very good point Mikey. There is nothing to suggest right now that we should be worried. We still have a fair bit to play for so we need to focus on getting into Europe. That has to be the priority regardless of the Bents situation.

Why would Bentley have to leave Rovers to play for England?? He is by far the best choice to replace Beckham and has played for England already, while playing for Rovers. So my point is why would anyone think that he would have to be playing for one of the top 4 teams to command a reg slot in the England team?! when everyone knows he can play well and if u take into account that 4 of the top 8 teams in Champs League are English and Bentley has done well against ALL of them with Rovers then why move, hes clearly playing against Europes best yr in, yr out anyway lol Its only really Liverpool in the top4 that would be interested and no offense but they are not guarenteed Champ League football yr after yr, juding by this yr performances anyway
Clint
so Arsenal will be signing him around about July then :-)
