Is Bentley Hinting At Ewood Exit?

Is Bentley Hinting At Ewood Exit?

Blackburn Rovers winger David Bentley is hinting at an Ewood exit, well according to the media on Sunday anyway!!!

For SEVERAL months Rovers have been trying to tie Bentley down to a long-term contract, but so far these talks have staled and nothing has been signed despite Bents expressing his desire to stay, but in more recent times adding what could be seen as thinly veiled comments that perhaps suggest he is weighing up his options.

The England International has been heavily linked with a big money move to Newcastle United in the summer, with Liverpool, Tottenham Hotspur and Athletico Bilbao all understood to be monitoring his Ewood situation, and if European football is not achieved next season (something which is a danger) the media suggestion is that Bents is suggesting that he could see a future away from Ewood this summer?!?!

Bentley told The Daily Star Sunday: "I owe so much to Blackburn

"They have given me a platform - financially and to play every week.

"My contract is getting negotiated at the minute, but you never know what is round the corner.

"We need to be in Europe but we are probably not going to make it - which is disappointing from a personal point of view
."

Is this Bents suggesting he is looking at his options, or is it the media just viewing these comments (as thinly veiled as it could appear?) as him hinting towards a summer exit?!?! I personally think he would be better off staying here, but a season without European football COULD be something that he feels his quality can't do without??? (if so that rules out Newcastle at least!)

We MUST keep Bents, if we lose him this season I worry that we will lose MANY other players. Everyone has their price, but I honestly do think Bents is an almost priceless commodity for us.
However, should he want to leave (which if we don't make Europe next season he might) then there will not be too much that we could do.

IF we don't make Europe is to harsh to waste his talent and don't want any bad atmosphere in our changing room next season, we should look at Benni maybe would of been best for him to go for £15 mill on this season performance. Bentley is the core of our team, but if he wants to leave then he might not play. WOuld hate it but can't keep anyone against there will really. Come on for Europe!!

Well just make sure that if you sell him, it's for nothing less than £20 million. Make enough to resupply the squad.

He is saying nothing out of the ordinary here. Hughes wont sell him and if he tries to force his way out we'll get shed loads of cash for him... we cant lose.

He doesn't have a release clause. He is contracted to the club, he likes the club and is happy. Hughes is just offering him more money on his current deal and trying to put in a couple more years. I for one have heard these quotes before, Dave has been very honest about his feelings and I don't see anything different here. It's the papers making a story out of nothing. Hughes won't sell him.

Everything Bentley says over the coming months is going to get blown out of proportion by the media. He is whats interesting at the moment, especially in the wake of the recent France/England game and the inevitable debate over who is now best to play on the right for England. The microscope is on him now, eveything he says or does will get written about. Whether he will look for a move elsewhere in the Summer is anyone's guess. I agree with FN1. though. I don't think Sparky will sell him anyway, no matter what kind of offers roll in unless they are ridiculously high. He is the best player we have now, we have to hold on to him.

i dont see any of our star players leaving this summer, can only see more good decent signings coming in, ive heard rumours from my m8 that works as a reserve team coach that jimmy bullard is gona be heading back up north this summer should fulham go down, which is probably gona happen now! id love to see him at rovers, hes the sort of character that rovers are missing, weve got brilliant players, but no1 with that cheeky chappy status!! and the lad has got a beast of a free kick, it seems like he scores, or comes close all the time!!

Championship Cost Per Goal So Far In 2016/17

The end of the Championship campaign of 2016/17 is only a month and a bit away from fans across the country but as we go in to the remaining weeks of the campaign...

Positive Signs For Bennett

Bennett was positive of Blackburn being able to see off Lancashire rivals Preston heading into this game at Ewood Park after the Norwich and Fulham results.

Minor Graham Setback

Blackburn had to do without Danny Graham against Preston following the groin problem that forced him off against Fulham last week. He could return against Brighton next week.

Hugely Frustrating

Mowbray admitted Blackburn didn't start the game well against Preston but had then been the dominant side so was 'majorly disappointed' not to record a victory.
