Rovers Keeping An Eye On Ridgewell?

Blackburn Rovers are being linked with Birmingham City defender Liam Ridgewell, according to the newspapers anyway.

Former England Under-21 International Ridgewell left Aston Villa to sign for their fierce rivals Birmingham last summer but the suggestion is that Mark Hughes is planning a £3 million move for their central defensive skipper in the summer.

Personally I can't see this move happening, nor if I am being perfectly honest would I WANT to see Ridgewell sign for Rovers (especially for £3 million!!!) as although he isn't a bad defender I just don't see what the benefits signing him would bring, every time I see the dude play he seems to make a mistake (and usually not a minor one a MAJOR one!!!) Just a quiet day for the newspapers if you ask me!

Can't see much if ANY truth in this really.
Without being unkind if he was that good wouldn't Aston Villa have kept him rather than sold him to a club who were always likely (no offence to Birmingham City) to be nearer the bottom than top of the League?!?!

I cant see this being right. He wouldnt improve the starting X1 which is what we need to concentrate on.

Not good enough for Rovers!!! I hope this is just idle speculation.

Yeah it will just be rubbish stirring from a bored and lonely source on Easter!

Yer could have been good, maybe still has the potential but not sure Hughes will know best if it does materialise.

I was hoping that with a (reportedly) £10 million war chest we'd be looking at some half decent players... not blowing £million on an under 21 defender... but Hughes knows best I suppose.

Under-21 footballers would be fine with me, just not this former one as he ISN'T what we are after at all!!!
Hughes Da Man
Yeah I wouldnt mind someone like Nedhum Onohua from City, he's an u-21 defender with ability.
MikeyGamst
Ridgewell is an ok player, but wouldnt improve the team, so I doubt that amove would be made for him, just paper talk!!

with 3 million we cud most definatley invest into another player with the same mould as samba im sure he wasnt even 3 million and playing that for a player who hasnt made much impact from birmingham is pointless! samba is still young! we need someone to replace khishlashvilli ( however you spell it) he seems to remind me of darren peackock, used to love get the shirt of the player before the match had ended! lol! mikey gamst spot on with onohua he looks class! i like kris commons of forest as a left pack and nathan tyson!

We could get Onohua from City I would expect a lot of changes there in the summer, cos Sven has been told he wont get a lot of money he will have to sell! Think Zurab still offers Rovers a lot, we need a centre back I agree considering that Oojier is not getting any younger and the injury to God this season has shown us kinda of short in that dept. Dont need a left back, remember Olsson is coming through. Maybe a rite back, as if Emerton is injured again we are short and Hughes has not used our reserve players much this season. We need a goal scoring central midfielder, I think Rovers are way to easy to read at times as a lot of our goals come only from the strikers, hopefully Bolton go down and we can steal Nolan, how funny would that be if he came lol. Like Koumas as well. Im sure there are others though who folk would consider better, i picked these 2 for their premier league experience
