Rigters Joins The Canaries On Loan

Rigters Joins The Canaries On Loan

Blackburn have allowed Maceo Rigters to leave on loan until the end of the season. Norwich have signed Maceo Rigters today, beating off a host of other competitors.

Rigters, 24, has found himself 5th in the pecking order this season behind Benni McCarthy, Santa Cruz, Jason Roberts and Matt Derbyshire.

Speaking on Norwich's website, Maceo has stated, 'I am very happy to get a chance to play for such a big club as Norwich City, a club with tremendous history. I am very much looking forward to the atmosphere in the stadium which I have heard so much about.'

City boss Glenn Roeder was thankful to Rovers boss Mark Hughes for letting Maceo leave for a few months, again speaking to Norwich's official website -'I am delighted that Mark Hughes at Blackburn has agreed to let us sign Maceo Rigters - a player who I first saw play for Holland in the Under 21 European Championships last summer where he was the leading scorer.

'I think that this is a good and new opportunity for him to come to us with seven games to go and show everybody what he's capable of doing - scoring goals - which have been lacking this season.

'It was also nice to know that we beat off strong interest from a number of prominent Championship clubs.'

Rigters has not scored for Blackburn in six appearances this term, he has found his route to the first team blocked and surely this is best for all concerned to allow Mr.Rigters to get some game time and come back recharged for a better push at the first team next year.

I'm sure he'll become a fans' favourite at Carrow Road. Very talented lad.

Did not realize that he was 24. Hope he starts showing some quality soon but to be fair to him i haven't seen enough of him to judge him. Surprised he was not loaned out sooner. This can only be good for him. By the way does anyone know whats happening with quinton fortune?

Well theres no point in having him around Ewood if he's not gonna get a game in the first team. He needs to be playing in competitive games. I think this is a good move for him, agree with Del, it should have happened much sooner!

There must be something wrong in this picture - everyone knows he can score goals so why hasnt he impressed?? Think he may have had a shock at the pace of English football, especailly as he has never palyed anywhere but the Dutch League, which apart from Ajax and PSV is no better than the Scottish League. I hope the loan works for him and Rovers, he's a lad with a bagful of talet!!

I think this could be a great move for him. He needs this to get the confidence back. I am sure nobody doubts the mans talent.

A good move for everyone isn't it, my personal opinion has always been that he was signed with next season, and the seasons after that more in mind that this one.
He'll come back (hopefully) a stronger and fitter player for next season.
