Nelsen Closing In On Return

Nelsen Closing In On Return

Blackburn Rovers skipper Ryan Nelsen is getting close to making his return from his troublesome hamstring problem.

Having been hampered by his hamstring problem (which has caused problems on and off for some 18-months) rather than have further surgery he was ordered to rest, and has been out since January, but manager Mark Hughes has revealed that he is getting closer to a first team return, and as such he would like to organise a match for him to take part in (possibly a behind closed doors affair.)

Hughes told the Official Blackburn Rovers Website: "He's not at full pelt at the moment.

"But he's getting very close and he's more confident in the injury. He's probably stronger now than he has been.

"He's got that confidence behind him so hopefully we can start stepping it up now, possibly give him a game just to get back on track, and then hopefully he'll be available for selection for the remaining games
."

A return to the side of the New Zealand International would be very timely as Christopher Samba has looked a little shaky in recent times, however, Zurab Khizanishvili has stood in VERY well when asked, but Nelsen's quality and presence means A LOT to Rovers. A FULLY FIT God makes a HUGE difference to the Rovers defence.

Hopefully God can soon be back in the team, and hopefully fully over his problems as we ALWAYS look stronger with a fully fit Nelsen in the back four.

Oh yeah baby!!!! cant wait for this. Samba is half the defender he is without Nelsen there next to him. Our number one defender is coming back.

Samba half the defender... that brings him down to about 5'9 I think!

Glad Nelson is on the mend he's a great player - but I don't know if that means Samba will be dropped in favour of Kiz and Ooijer who have been great

At the moment I would put Ooijer and Nelsen at the back but Samba will be back.

God is ALWAYS (when fully fit) the first defenders name that I personally would have on the teamsheet.

Championship Cost Per Goal So Far In 2016/17

The end of the Championship campaign of 2016/17 is only a month and a bit away from fans across the country but as we go in to the remaining weeks of the campaign...

Positive Signs For Bennett

Bennett was positive of Blackburn being able to see off Lancashire rivals Preston heading into this game at Ewood Park after the Norwich and Fulham results.

Minor Graham Setback

Blackburn had to do without Danny Graham against Preston following the groin problem that forced him off against Fulham last week. He could return against Brighton next week.

Hugely Frustrating

Mowbray admitted Blackburn didn't start the game well against Preston but had then been the dominant side so was 'majorly disappointed' not to record a victory.
