Bentley's Contract Concerns

Blackburn Rovers midfielder David Bentley has admitted there is some uncertainty surrounding the signing of his new contract, but has stressed how much he loves the club.

The England International has been locked in talks over a contract extension for some time, however, this is still not any closer to being concluded, and although he is contracted until 2011 he isn't completely closing the door on a possibly move away from Ewood Park (and the links to others ARE growing).

Bentley told BBC Radio Lancashire: "It's been going on for a few months. I'm not sure what's happening, it would be the hardest decision if I left but hopefully I'll sign.

"My agent is sorting it all out, I don't really look to get involved.

"I know something is getting sorted out but we'll just have to see where it goes from there
."

The 23-year-old winger has conceded his love for the club though, but also says that this can't always be enough to keep you at a club, HOPEFULLY though this will be, however, I personally feel that if we do miss out on Europe next season then this could be a BIG problem for us?!?! And our chances took a MAJOR blow with out defeat against West Ham United today.

He added: "You have to get these things right. You never can rush into anything, especially long-term contracts, so we'll just have to see what happens.

"I love this club, I love everyone that works here, the staff, the players and the management. I love coming to work every day but football is football and you never know what's around the corner
."

I've never once feared that Bents could, or indeed would leave us until just recently!!! Obviously I still hope that he stays, but doubts are creeping into my head, missing out on Europe next season MIGHT be to big a miss for him?!?!
Hughes Da Man
will he leave - Arsenal perhaps?
merlin
ummmmmm Hughes' words today.... "David is at a stage of his career where he needs to play games rather than being a squad player, he needs to be first choice," Hughes said on Setanta Sports News. Sounds like he's challenging mr Bents... don't get to disheartened... history will always repeat itself as far as our town team is concerned....Shearer, Duff, Neill, Bellamy, Sherwood, Le Saux....and on and on and on... all made their name at Rovers to do what?! Not a great deal.... we all know whats the right move for Bents it's whether he can see it?

Let's just hope that he can dude.
