Rovers Ready To Do A Fortune Deal

Blackburn Rovers look as though they will be offering Quinton Fortune a contract until the end of the season.

The former Manchester United and Bolton Wanderers Midfielder had been on trial with Sunderland, but they decided not to take up the option to sign him, so he came to Ewood Park and has been with the club for several weeks. Now Mark Hughes has indicated that he is prepared to offer the South African a contract for the remainder of the current campaign in order for him to prove himself worthy of a possible longer stay.

Hughes told the Lancashire Telegraph: "It's a situation we are still looking at. We'll be fair to him.

"We probably still need a little bit more time to look at him in certain situations, but it may be an option for us to have him from now until the end of the season to give him a chance to impress
."

Personally I'm not sure about him, but In Sparky we trust.

Well nothing to lose really, until the end of season contract wud be good, adds a little more competition and doubt he wud be on much and if Sparky thinks it's worthwhile then probably is!!

I think it would be a good idea taking him until the end of the season. Sparky obviously likes something about him but is still unsure about giving him a contract, so this will give him the perfect oppertunity to make up his mind.

Well I guess it's a no lose situation but I really don't rate him!

I can see the merits and also the draw backs but Hughes will know how to get the good stuff out of him... lets do it.

Nothing to lose... but I don't think we need him. If he can't get into the team at Sunderland, I don't think he'll get into ours
FreidelNo.1
I'm gonna disagree with you there FriedelNo.1 ... wages to be wasted here, fortune's not up to scratch!

It looks like Sunderland are back in for him anyway apparently?!?!
Hughes Da Man
seems logical - see what he can do then re-visit the situation in the summer!

A bit of competition for places doesn't do any one any harm, hopefully this can get a few players fighting (not literally) to wear the shirt. Any its only till the summer if it dopesn't go well Hughes just brings a better player in during the transfer window
Big Man up Front
who knows aye, at least it will keep a few of our lads honest, as long as wages aint too high

I dont hink Fortune will ask for much and I think he would choose us over Sunderland... lets see.
MikeyGamst
If Sunderland would let him play more he would probably go there though wouldn't he?!?!
Hughes Da Man
The only thing about Fortune is that he's one of those utility players, who can cover in the middle and left of midfield and at left back if needed. I didnt really rate him at Utd but sure if he can do a job until the end of the season why not?!?! the presence of 2 other South Africans may help him settle and do a job, not everyone has to be a star player after all, we need those who do the donkey work
