McCarthy Top Rovers Forward

Vital Blackburn's most recent Poll asked, "Forward of the Month for February?" We voted in favour of Benni McCarthy.

By a pretty big margin with 58% of the vote McCarthy was voted the Rovers Forward or the Month for February, so takes his place in the overall Player of the Month poll.

Roque Santa Cruz's 29% sees him finish as runner up to McCarthy, and as such he also advances to the overall Player of the Month poll, taking place shortly.

Maceo Rigters (5%), Jason Roberts (5%) & Matt Derbyshire (3%) completed the poll.

So in summary
Matt Derbyshire - 3%
Benni McCarthy - 58%
Roque Santa Cruz - 29%
Maceo Rigters - 5%
Jason Roberts - 5%

The positional searches for Februarys Player of the Month are now out of the way, the overall vote to determine the Player of the Month for February will take place shortly, but first the current poll is asking, "Rovers Man of the Match v Newcastle United?"

As for what you think, cast your vote and why not have your say on the latest polls findings.

Again I must admit I'm not sure if Benni actually deserved to win this poll (personally speaking) but he did deserve to get in.

dont think anyone deserved this award, our strikers were pretty poor last month, roque hasnt scored in a while, roberts hasnt had much time, derbs was injured, not much choice really
sasman
Well whoooop-de - pheckin - dooo, congrats to him.

another idiot who is only after points, unless u got something to contribute....get stuffed
sasman
Completely agree with you Sasman, none of our strikers deserved the award. They've all had poor Febuary!!

I believe Benni is the best striker we have when he is on a roll (like last year red.), but Roque being the most effective this season and participates more in the building game. That said - Its quite unfortunate Roque isnt scoring at the moment...its like his Player Of The Month award has jinxed him - just like it happened when MH got the Manager equivalent. Think he is a confidence striker (which is why he never scored in Bayern) so hopefully he will get the goals in soon. But of course one should never forget the GREAT job he is doing on the field while he isnt scoring! I have tons of faith in the guy but a goal would be nice soon to keep his confidence up
redstarman
I agree with this lads. He scored the most goals out of everyone and it was a poor months for our strikers but he was the best of the poor bunch so he is the best forward... that does make sense doesnt it???
MikeyGamst
will he stay with you lot or will he get Champions League itis?
merlin
I dont think a champions league club will want him based on his recent form (Bolton game aside).
MikeyGamst
however if one does want to splash the cash, then so long farwewell, sparky knows best
sasman
Maybe a lot of truth to that sas.
MikeyGamst
No club in this country (Champions League qualifiers) would come in for Benni, maybe a European club would, but I'm happy for us to keep him anyway, get an extended contract signed then if he does get this Champions League itis again we will reap the benefits. But Benni WILL come good again.
Hughes Da Man
We cant lose really can we... he stays he scores goals, he goes we get profit. We're in a win win situation.
MikeyGamst
spot on, however hopefully he does score the goals lol
sasman
Yeah it was a tough poll purley based on the dearth of goals scored by our forwards. I would like to see Roque pop up with one in the coming weeks as it's stretching on now!
roversman
Yeah, i agree with your previous comment MikeyGamst he has bagged goals be it from the penalty spot or not, who cares!? haha.
adrianbrfc
cheers adrian... a goal is a goal as you say. Lets back the players and I have a feeling Santa will score at home to Fulham.
