Andre To Stay

Andre To Stay

Blackburn Rovers have confirmed that the have taken up the option in Andre Ooijer's contract and extended it for a further 12 months.

Apparently the club are in contract negotiations with Stephen Warnock regarding a new contract also.

All this news is very promising for next season and if we can tie up all these contracts and supplement them with some new additions in the summer then next season could be very promising indeed.

All good news, experienced and composed, Andre is more than adequate a replacement for nearly anywhere across the back line!

YEAH! He is probably the most underrated players in our team. As BomBom has said, composed, experienced, versatile. His positioning is very good. He's a bit like Craig Short, not the quickest, but was always in the right palce at the right time. I would prefer to see him alongside Nelson, as opposed to Samba...

Yeah, good shout Decimus, Samba has become slightly dodgey at the back in the last couple of months, he tends to panic when under pressure and its cost us on more than a few occasions. Don't get me wrong I rate him very highly but pairing Oijer with Nelson is the safer option in my opinion. And i'll tell you what Khizanishvili should'nt be overlooked either, I think he's been doing a great job recently.

We do have some really good defenders here don't we, Ooijer has always been underrated, but roversman and I ALWAYS said (even from the beginning) that his quality would shine through, and it has.
Completely agree, his positional sense is as good as anyone I've seen, so this compensates for his lack of pace.

Much the same as Nelsen to be fair but i disagree that he should partner him, we need pace in the back line and Samba will learn from Nelsen AND Ooijer!

Nelsen is automatic choice for me. Either way Andre is experienced and really steady. We cant go wrong here.

Here is a thought....how bout Samba further up the park, maybe in the middle or just in behind the middle. We all no how much he loves to dribble around the ball, he could be the brick wall in the middle of the pitch
