No Hurry With Benni Contract

Blackburn Rovers are not in any hurry to conclude the contract extension talks with striker Benni McCarthy, but manager Mark Hughes remains confident these issues will be sorted in due course.

McCarthy is just one of a number of players locked in contract extension talks (along with David Bentley, Morten Gamst Pedersen and Tugay) and Hughes remains convinced that he will sign a new extended and improved deal. Talks are underway, and although Sparky admits there is no hurry, he remains confident a deal for the South African International will be agreed.

Hughes said: "The talks are still ongoing.

"We spoke to his agent this week so hopefully something will be resolved.

"There isn't really a timescale on it
."

Benni might not have been as influential this season but he has still played his part and does seem to be getting his hunger and desire back so extending his deal should (hopefully) see this improve yet further still, and does cover us against the sharks that could start circling again soon!!!
