Rovers Talk Contracts!

News is filtering through that Rovers are in the early stages of discussing new contracts with both Tugay and Morton Gamst Pedersen.

Tugay is reportedly to be offered another 12 month deal while Pedersen is purportedly being offered a 3 year deal. No further information has been forthcoming so far.

On the back of the rumour of new deals for both David Bentley and Benni McCarthy, this all sounds very positive for the immediate future for BRFC.

Personally, I think having Tugay around another season would be of great benefit to the younger players at the club as long as he is used sparingly and my thanks go out to MGP for having such a poor season by his standards that interest in his signature has dropped and we can now renew his contract without the Spuds being linked with him on a daily basis.

With Friedel already in the bag, these deals being completed would put a smile on this supporters face at least.

Lets not get to excited but if the ink dries on these deals then COME ON!

Good to hear, MGP is a quality left winger and there aint too many of them around and though he's had an incredibly poor season he will come good again. I love Tugay but he's past it and although having him around for another season has its benefits we should really be looking to sign his replacement in the Summer!

Being Danish i also read some norwegian news, and they are speculating in a salary on £3 mio pr. year instead of the £1,8 mio he is getting pr year as we speak. These informations should have originated from his agent - but as always...ONLY RUMOURS!!! I love the guy, but one could argue that that salary was a bit over the top regarding his performances in this season.

Tugay will be a good prescence to have around the dressing room. His enthusiam and football knowledge can only be a benefit to the youngsters, and the first team regulars. We need to keep hold of him, with a view to a coaching, or at least an ambassador, role...

Great news about Tugay never want him to leave, MGP yer rumours will prb start again linking him away so wen sealed probs good!!!

GREAT news all-round, keeping Tugay WILL be such a bonus, tying MGP to a longer deal will also be beneficial to us, almost doubling his salary seems a bit much though, so I'm not sure that those rumours are true?!?!

How old is Tugay now - 40? or is he older :-)
merlin
he is the grand old age of 38 Merlin. hes got another season of magic left yet i am sure!
BomBom
Tugay can sign up for life, 38 merlin, when the time does come, i say build a tugay statue out the front of ewood...
sasman
Dunno if i would go that far, but a coaching contract, most definitely!
BomBom
Let's start with the contract first!!!

Tugay can stay till 65 as far as I am concerned... his presence only enhances things in the dressing room. As for Gamst I have no problem extending his stay... if he continues to play how he did on Sunday.
