Hughes Pleased With Performance

Blackburn Rover manager Mark Hughes felt that Rover acquitted themselves well against Arsenal, so he was pleased despite Monday Evenings 2-0 defeat.

Arsenal were put under some pressure by Rovers, but we never really threatened them too much and an early goal from Phillipe Senderos, then a late one from Emmanuel Adebayor saw Arsenal to a 2-0 triumph, nevertheless Hughes was content.

Hughes told BBC Sport: "I was really pleased with how we went about our job.

"Not many teams can come to the Emirates and take Arsenal on in a passing game and we certainly did that.

"I certainly don't think we deserved a two-goal difference.

"We tried to ask questions of a very good side and, on another night, one of the number of opportunities we created in that first half might have been converted
."

Yeah, we had a go but in all truth we never really threatened Arsenal that much, a better final delivery or maybe even some better finishing and we might have got something from the match. As it is we rightly shouldn't be that down heartened by the defeat.

I agree with him entirely here. Whilst far from a world beating performance, we did well and applied ourself in the right manner. Had we been playing someone else we would of been in business.

I don't entirely agree about had it been someone else, even if we'd had that little bit extra I think we could have got something from Arsenal, so I'm not sure if it would have made any difference being someone else or not?!!?

Havent seen the game but its hardly a tonking with a fairly depleted side so not too bad a result as far as I see!

I do think peeps expect to muxh sometimes... we are a good side that is down to the bear bones in some departments... lets keep the faith. Bolton is up next and we have MGP, Dunny and Samba coming back.
