Fortune Set For Rovers Trial?

Former Manchester United midfielder Quinton Fortune is set to have a trial with Blackburn Rovers, according to Sunderland manager Roy Keane.

Former South African International skipper Fortune has been without a club since his release by Bolton Wanderers last summer. He has recently been on trial with Sunderland, and was expected to sign for them, however, Keane decided upon signing his former Man United team-mate and claims that Mark Hughes is now prepared to take a look at the free agent.

Keane is quoted as saying: "Quinton is a great lad but, in the position we are in, I think it would be unfair to bring in player who hasn't played for six, seven or eight months.

"We did that with Andy Cole and Ian Harte earlier in the season, but at this stage of the campaign anyone we bring in needs to be able to hit the ground running.

"I think Quinton might now spend some time with Blackburn and we wish him well
."

Should Fortune indeed arrive on trial, if he impressed Hughes he would be able to sign immediately as he is a free agent.

Personally if he basically wasn't good enough for Keane (which I think he is saying in the polite way) would he be good enough for Sparky at this point in time?!?! We have nothing to lose by taking a look at him, but I'd be surprised if any deal came about.
Hughes Da Man
I remember when he was released by Man u i brought his name up. Sparky can pull the best out of anyone, and we really lack depth at the moment, i dont c why not, he has had to have some talent if he was at man u for that long
sasman
He is getting on in years, has failed to reach any kind of form fora while so I really can't see what he offers us! I guess greater depth.
roversman
If his wages arent too high, i dont c why a bit of experienced depth would b aproblem. Apart from the axe, all we have is the hedgehog lol, surely fortune is better then him
sasman
Hopefully with us looking at left wingers at the moment this might give pedersen a kick up the backside. Onto Fortune I can only really see Hughes acquiring him for the experience that he has i think he is well into his 30's. And he will probably be only brung in to add a bit of depth to our very lean side
Big Man up Front
Depth, and used ONLY in an emergency if you ask me (that is if he signed, which I still doubt.)
Hughes Da Man
31 years of age he is, well he would be a better emergency then hedgehog lol

Personally someone with speed able to play the one 2 and a terrfific shot who will wake up some of the slow adapting players of this season.we need someone who could give the rest of the guys a kik up the arse in training and if players see us going into europe once again theyll notice! someone similar to petrov. overmars. c ronaldo mould what you reckon.only thing blackburn lack at the moment is pace this guy from sofia wouldve bin fantastic he cloked up less than 12 sec in 100 metres what you say? oh hi im rikin recently signed up 2 vital football.Come on rovers!!!

Welcome dude, you are now officially a VBer (Vital Blackburner.)
Hughes Da Man
I dont think its a case of he isnt good enoug for Keane its a case of he doesnt want to risk on someone who hasnt played a lot recently. Hughes can get the best out of these players.
